The Origin of the Realm

In the beginning, the True Creator shaped the realm of Gaea from the void. Her first children were the Elder Race: mighty Giants, magical Dragons, skillful Dwarves, and the wise Elves. To each, she bestowed gifts of wisdom and power, making them stewards over this new world. Yet over time, the Elder Race grew prideful. They came to see their blessings as their birthright rather than a gift. In their arrogance, they forged secret alliances with outer gods and sought to overthrow the True Creator, hoping to claim dominion over all creation. Foreseeing their rebellion, the True Creator brought forth new beings: adaptable Humans, ferocious Beastmen, and alluring Merfolk. Though younger and less powerful, they possessed courage and faith. United under the Creator's will, they rose against the Elder Races and the outer gods in a cataclysmic conflict named the 'Battle of the gods'. The war shook the heavens and earth. In the end, the True Creator emerged victorious, and the Elder Race were cast down. As punishment for their betrayal, each was burdened with a curse that forever limited their ability to reproduce, ensuring they could never again multiply their strength unchecked in the future.  But victory came at a terrible cost. The hatred, death, and divine energies unleashed during the Battle seeped into the world, condensing into dark beings called 'monsters'. These creatures spread across Gaea, threatening all mortal life.  To this day, the True Creator watches over the realm. No longer intervening directly, but granting fragments of divine power to champions, adventurers, and heroes willing to stand against the monsters. Through them, the light of the True Creator endures, and the people of Gaea continue their endless struggle to protect the world from the shadows born of that ancient war.

Races of the World

Dragons

In the mythical lands of Nolara, dragons, revered members of the Elder race created by the True Creator, were once majestic rulers of the skies. Upon their creation, they were blessed with immense magic. They follow Adrex, the dragon god, the first of their kind. Before the great fall, they were countless, but now their numbers dwindle. Cursed to bond with only one mate for eternity, they are prideful by nature, never willing to forget a single slight. Yet, despite their fierce nature, a dragon's oath, once pledged, is unbreakable. They will always honor it, even against their better judgment.

Giants

The great Giants, sculpted from soil by the True Creator, stand as proud members of the Elder race. At birth, they were blessed with great strength and stature, easily towering over mountains. They follow Belzabron, the slothful King, the first of his kind. His faithful clergymen are called Slumbering Watchmen; they punish giants who do not abide by his code. Once numerous in number, their great lineage was cursed by the True Creator after the cataclysmic battle of the gods to share the burdens of the earth. The ground they once thoughtlessly damaged with their mighty strength now holds the key to their lives. Now, in fear of harming the land with their heavy weight, most giants tread carefully with slow steps, tending to the harsh lands of Durath where they dwell.

Elves

The Elven race, an ancient and noble lineage created by the True Creator, emerged from the sacred fruits of the world tree. For centuries, they have thrived in the enchanted realm of Gaea. Known for their long memories, they serve as a living wellspring of all Knowledge. This ethereal race is divided into two distinct factions: the Light Elves, who revere the teachings of Helius, the sun god, and call the northern lands of Nedall their home, and the Dark Elves, who journeyed south to Ethus, guided by the wisdom of Selene, the moon goddess. After the battle of the gods, they were cursed with low fertility, their lifespans tied to the world tree.

Dwarves

Dwarves, crafted from living stone by the True Creator, are also revered members of the Elder Race. To make up for their short stature, the Creator blessed them with gifted hands, capable of forging masterpieces strong enough to smite a god. They commonly dwell in the mountains of Brekka, hidden from the sight of crafty humans. They are followers of Helbright, the emissary of arts and the first guild master of the Artisan's Guild. Dedicated to their craft, they are greedy by nature, always seeking to acquire minerals and ore to craft new fine works. After their fall from grace with the True Creator in the battle of gods, their lives were tied to the very rare stones they love so much as punishment. Should their greed be too vast and they mine away all the ore within the mountain, they too will be as barren as the land.

Humans

In ancient times, during the fierce Battle of the gods, the True Creator fashioned humans to stand against the elder race. Though they were not given strength like the Giants, Magic like the Dragons, long lifespans like the elves, or dexterous hands like the Dwarves, the True Creator blessed them with infinite potential to grow and learn. With this blessing, humans soon became a beacon for ingenuity, compensating for their brief lifespans with creativity and resilience. They revere Ollma, the first and bravest king to have lived, whose valor aided the True Creator in winning the war. Humanity earned lush lands and the blessing of fertility, expanding into seven flourishing kingdoms. United by their shared legacy, humans fiercely champion the religion of the one True Creator, denouncing all who turn away from the faith.

Beastmen

Beastmen, created by the True Creator after the battle of the gods, are natural nomads of the land. As children of the land, they shun the confines of castles and cities, preferring to embrace the wilderness in all its beauty. They follow the teachings of Gaurio, the first of their kind and the first great Beast king. After the fall, upon reaching adulthood, they succumb to their primal instincts every full moon. In their transformed feral state, it is impossible to tell friend from foe. They will hunt anything within reach, making it almost impossible for them to coexist with other races in peace. Aware of their madness, most Beastmen are known to dwell with their own, rarely mingling with outsiders for fear of the full moon.

Merfolk

After the battle of the gods, the True Creator sought to make new creations to right the wrongs committed against the sea. He created the Merfolk, enchanting beings born from large, shimmering pearls. They dwell in Yullia, a massive kingdom beneath the sea. In the ocean depths, they gracefully glide about on their colorful fins. When they are forced to tread on land, their fins turn to legs, but they are not used to the harsh light of the sun. Merfolk typically do not venture beyond the depths of their watery kingdom often, but when they do, it is common for them to wear dark veils covering their enchanting faces, shielding their sensitive eyes from harsh light. Merfolk follow Faydria, the first of their kind, the mother of all Merfolk, and the unchallenged ruler of the seven seas. They are naturally gifted singers, with an affinity for water.
